I’m Patrick Cassidy, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Vermont. I specialize in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and trauma therapy for adults who feel stuck despite years of therapy or personal growth work. I work with anxiety, developmental and complex trauma, grief, emotional overwhelm, disconnection, and persistent relationship patterns.
My approach integrates IFS with trauma-informed and somatic therapy, mindfulness, and other approaches based on your needs. IFS offers a compassionate way to understand the different parts of ourselves that develop in response to difficult experiences, rather than fighting or suppressing them.
I offer individual therapy for adults 18+ in Montpelier and through secure telehealth throughout Vermont. I also offer psychedelic integration and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy preparation and integration. I speak fluent Spanish and welcome Spanish-speaking clients.

I believe therapy works best when we approach your inner experience with curiosity rather than judgment. My work is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which understands the mind as made up of different parts that develop in response to our experiences. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts, emotions, or behaviors, we work to understand what those parts are trying to protect and what they need.
I integrate IFS with trauma-informed and somatic approaches, mindfulness, and other methods based on your needs. My goal isn't simply to help you cope better, but to help you understand what is happening beneath the surface and create meaningful change.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that understands the mind as made up of different parts, each with its own thoughts, emotions, and protective roles. Therapy focuses on developing curiosity and compassion toward these parts and helping them move toward healthier roles.
