How it works

One record per provider. Everyone reads the same one.

Guide.md starts from the public NPI registry for every U.S. provider and lets each provider make their own record current and complete.

For providers and practices

  1. Find your record by name and state or NPI.
  2. Verify it is yours: a practice or institutional email plus your typed name is enough; otherwise a review within a few days, nothing to pay.
  3. Correct and complete it: facts, biography, conditions and procedures, locations, badges, appointment requests.
  4. Keep it current: edit any time, read the monthly report, renew verified status yearly at no cost.

For agencies and office staff

Find the provider and choose "I'm claiming on behalf of this provider". Your account is created with your organization and role; the provider approves from an email naming you and confirms their own name on one short page; you edit the profile, switch on listings and can pay for the plan. One login for every client. Agencies earn a referral commission on the accounts they bring; practice staff get a discount on each additional provider. For agencies.

For patients

Search by name, specialty, condition, procedure, place or insurance. Every card says whether the profile is Claimed, Enriched or registry-only. Where the provider has switched it on, a request form sends your name, phone, insurance, reason and preferred times to the office, which confirms. Guide.md does not diagnose, treat or recommend a provider; in an emergency call 911.

For attorneys and companies

Verified providers who treat on lien, act as expert witnesses or consult for industry are listed by state and city on their own pages, stated by the provider on a verified profile, with the details attorneys and companies look for. Doctors on lien · Expert witnesses · Industry consultants.

How ordering works on Guide.md

  1. Relevance first. Directory results and listing pages are ordered by how well a record matches what was searched: name, specialty, place, condition or procedure. The sort in use is shown on the page (Verified first, Most experience, Name A–Z).
  2. Verified profiles list ahead of unverified records. Among equally relevant results the order is Claimed (confirmed by the provider), then Enriched (editor-curated), then registry-only records. Confirming a condition or procedure on your profile lists you among the verified providers on that page. This preference comes from verification, never from payment.
  3. Completeness is a meter, not a rank. The completeness score is shown to the owner to guide editing; it does not change ordering.
  4. Paid plans change what a profile can hold, not where it sits. Pro and Premium add media, FAQs, badges and listing pages, and raise how many condition and procedure pages you can confirm (10, 30, unlimited). Verified status lasts twelve months and is renewed at no cost by confirming from your account that the profile is still current; any payment renews it automatically. A paid plan never moves a profile above another verified profile.
  5. Featured placements are labeled and separate. They are paid, marked "Featured", shown in their own slot above the results, and never change the ordering beneath them.

Search engines and AI assistants make their own ranking decisions. Nothing on Guide.md changes those; a complete, verified profile is a better source for them, not a guarantee.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

The NPPES NPI registry and CMS public datasets, refreshed weekly, plus what verified providers write. Source and verification status are labeled on every profile.

What does it cost?

Claiming is free, and most providers pay nothing at all: a practice or institutional email means no identity check. Pro is $20 a month, Premium $49 a month; add-on listings $29 and $49 a month. Featured placements are separate, labeled advertisements.

Claim the profile first. Decide what else you need afterward.
